Share market update: Nifty Financial Services index down; REC dips 2%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty Financial Services index was down with its components trading mixed in Wednesday's afternoon session.

Shares of ICICI PRU LIFE (up 3.62 per cent), HDFC LIFE INSURANCE (up 1.97 per cent), SBI Life (up 1.54 per cent), Edelweiss Financial Services (up 0.78 per cent), Mahindra & Mahindra Financial (up 0.75 per cent), Bajaj Finance (up 0.2 per cent), State Bank of India (up 0.13 per cent) and Cholamandalam Investment & Finance (up 0.06 per cent) were among the top gainers.

While Kotak Mahindra Bank (down 1.99 per cent), REC (down 1.97 per cent), Power Finance Corporation (down 1.73 per cent), ICICI Bank (down 1.16 per cent), HDFC (down 1.06 per cent), Shriram Transport Finance (down 1.01 per cent), Axis Bank (down 1 per cent), Indiabulls Housing Finance Ltd (down 0.8 per cent), ICICI GI (down 0.75 per cent), HDFC Bank (down 0.35 per cent), Bajaj Holdings & Investment (down 0.16 per cent) and Bajaj Finserv (down 0.02 per cent) were the top losers in the index.


The Nifty Financial Services index was trading 0.68 per cent down at 14,208.5 around 11:54 am.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was down 43.70 points at 12126.15 , while the BSE Sensex was down 143.01 points at 41,180.8.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 20 were trading in the green, while 30 were in the red.

Shares of Vodafone Idea, YES Bank, Zee Ent., Tata Motors, Indian Oil Corp, ONGC, SBI, Ashok Leyland, Bharti Airtel and BHEL were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
