Share market update: Metal shares up; SAIL zooms nearly 8%

NEW DELHI: Metal shares were trading in the green in Monday's morning session.

Shares of Steel Authority of India (SAIL) (up 7.97 per cent), Jindal Steel & Power (up 7.60 per cent), Hindustan Copper (up 6.61 per cent) and APL Apollo Tubes (up 5.84 per cent) were the top gainers in the index.

NMDC (up 5.75 per cent), JSW Steel (up 5.61 per cent), National Aluminium Company (up 4.91 per cent) and Tata Steel (up 4.82 per cent) too were trading with gains.


The Nifty Metal index was trading 4.04 per cent up at 2920.80 around 10:38 am.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was up 282.85 points at 11,690 while the BSE Sensex was up 953.31 points at 38,884.08.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 43 were trading in the green, while 7 were in the red.

Shares of Vodafone Idea, YES Bank, SBI, Adani Power, Federal Bank, Ashok Leyland, ICICI Bank, DHFL, IDFC First Bank and PNB were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
