Share market update: Metal shares up; JSW Steel climbs 3%

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 39 were trading in the green, while 10 were in the red.
NEW DELHI: Metal shares were trading in the green in Thursday's morning session as the early leads projected Narendra Modi-led NDA is set to form government at the Centre.

Shares of JSW Steel (up 2.91 per cent), APL Apollo Tubes (up 2.53 per cent), Jindal Stainless (Hisar) (up 2.27 per cent) and Steel Authority of India (SAIL) (up 2.26 per cent) were the top performers in the index.

Hindustan Copper (up 2.10 per cent), NMDC (up 1.95 per cent), Welspun Corp (up 1.76 per cent) and Tata Steel (up 1.66 per cent) too were trading in the green.


The Nifty Metal index was trading 0.71 per cent up at 2884.75 around 10:56 am.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was up 235.70 points at 11,973.60 while the BSE Sensex was up 787.65 points at 39897.86.

Shares of YES Bank, Bank of Baroda, SBI, Vodafone Idea, Adani Enterprises, Adani Power, PNB, ICICI Bank, Federal Bank and DLF were among the most traded securities on the NSE.
