Share market update: Metal shares under pressure; NMDC, Vedanta among top losers

NEW DELHI: Metal shares were under pressure with the Nifty Metal index down 0.18 per cent at 3172.3 on Friday.

Shares of Jindal Stainless (Hisar) (down 1.91 per cent) , Welspun Corp (down 1.82 per cent) , NMDC (down 1.79 per cent) and Hindustan Zinc (down 1.01 per cent) were the top losers in the index.

Vedanta (down 0.69 per cent), MOIL (down 0.56 per cent) and Steel Authority of India (SAIL) (down 0.47 per cent) too were trading with losses.


Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was down 162.75 points at 10,788.95 while the BSE Sensex was down 525.24 points at 35,906.43.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 5 were trading in the green, while 45 were in the red.

Shares of BEL, YES Bank, Indian Oil Corp, Tata Motors, BHEL, SBI, Ashok Leyland, ONGC, Bank of Baroda, Vedanta , NTPC, HPCL and Infosys were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
