Share market update: Metal shares in the red; Welspun Corp slips 3%

NEW DELHI: Metal shares were trading in the red with the Nifty Metal index down 0.6 per cent down at 3279.55 on Wednesday.

Shares of Welspun Corp (down 3.25 per cent), Tata Steel (down 1.69 per cent), Hindustan Copper (down 1.36 per cent) and NMDC (down 1.21 per cent) were trading in the red.

Steel Authority of India (SAIL) (down 1.12 per cent), Vedanta (down 1.05 per cent) and JSW Steel (down 0.87 per cent) too were among the worst performers.


Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was down 36.10 points at 10,620.1 while the BSE Sensex was 192.61 points down at 35281.9 around 02:23 pm.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 26 were trading in the green, while 23 were in the red.

Shares of YES Bank, Idea Cellular, Ashok Leyland, ICICI Bank, Indian Oil Corp, Bank of Baroda, SBI, HPCL, Infosys, Vedanta, Hindalco Inds., Tata Steel, SAIL and Bharti Airtel were among the most traded shares on the National Stock Exchange.
