Share market update: Metal shares decline; Welspun Corp slips 4%

NEW DELHI: Metal shares were trading with losses in Monday's morning session.

Shares of Welspun Corp (down 3.95 per cent) , Vedanta (down 1.57 per cent) , JSW Steel (down 1.13 per cent) , Hindalco Industries (down 0.88 per cent) , Steel Authority of India (down 0.79 per cent) , Ratnamani Metals & Tubes (down 0.56 per cent) , National Aluminium Company (down 0.43 per cent) , MOIL (down 0.43 per cent) , Tata Steel (down 0.39 per cent) , APL Apollo Tubes (down 0.18 per cent) and Hindustan Copper (down 0.11 per cent) were the top losers in the index.

The Nifty Metal index was trading 0.29 per cent down at 2856.40 around 10:29 am.


Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was down 40.80 points at 12311.55 , while the BSE Sensex was down 123.41 points at 41821.96.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 17 were trading in the green, while 33 were in the red.

Shares of Vodafone Idea, NHPC, YES Bank, Indian Oil Corp, PowerGrid, Tata Motors, NMDC, Bharti Airtel, SBI and Ashok Leyland were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
