Share market update: Metal shares decline; Welspun Corp falls 6%

NEW DELHI: Metal shares were trading with losses in Monday's morning session.

Shares of Jindal Stainless (Hisar) (down 6.59 per cent), Welspun Corp (down 5.87 per cent), Jindal Steel & Power (down 4.35 per cent) and Hindustan Copper (down 4.24 per cent) were trading with losses.

Hindalco Industries (down 4.02 per cent), Tata Steel (down 3.80 per cent), JSW Steel (down 3.40 per cent) and APL Apollo Tubes (down 3.20 per cent) too were trading in the red.


The Nifty Metal index was trading 2.68 per cent down at 2393.20 around 10:37 am.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was down 179.40 points at 10,817.95 while the BSE Sensex was down 578.42 points at 36,539.80.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 6 were trading in the green, while 44 were in the red.

Shares of YES Bank, Vodafone Idea, SBI, Ashok Leyland, Dish TV India, ICICI Bank, Tata Motors, GMR Infra, PNB and Bank of Baroda were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
