Share market update: Metal shares decline; SAIL dips nearly 2%

NEW DELHI: Metal stocks were trading with losses in Tuesday's session, keeping their sectoral index on NSE in the negative zone.

Shares of Steel Authority of India (SAIL) (down 1.95 per cent), APL Apollo Tubes (down 1.80 per cent), Hindustan Copper (down 1.61 per cent)and Vedanta (down 1.31 per cent) were trading in the red.

JSW Steel (down 1.23 per cent), Hindalco Industries (down 1.22 per cent), MOIL (down 1.00 per cent)and Jindal Stainless (Hisar) (down 0.84 per cent) too were trading lower in the metal pack.


The Nifty Metal index was trading 0.55 per cent down at 2836.50 around 11:45 am.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was down 56.50 points at 10,823.60 while the BSE Sensex was down 225.23 points at 35,988.15.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 16 were trading in the green, while 34 were in the red.

Shares of YES Bank, Tata Motors, Ashok Leyland, SAIL, Motherson Sumi, ICICI Bank, Vedanta , SBI, BEL, Bank of Baroda, NHPC, Indian Oil Corp, RIL and ITC were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
