Share market update: Metal shares decline; Nalco plunges 9%

NEW DELHI: Metal shares were trading with losses in Monday's morning session.

Shares of National Aluminium Company (down 9.28 per cent) , Welspun Corp (down 6.01 per cent) , Hindalco Industries (down 4.52 per cent), and Vedanta (down 4.35 per cent) were the worst performers in the index.

Jindal Steel & Power (down 3.46 per cent) , MOIL (down 2.26 per cent) , Hindustan Copper (down 1.93 per cent) and JSW Steel (down 1.81 per cent) too were trading in the red.


The Nifty Metal index was trading 2.09 per cent down at 2683.20 around 11:52 am.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was down 48.20 points at 10,895.40 while the BSE Sensex was down 111.01 points at 36,435.47.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 14 were trading in the green, while 36 were in the red.

Shares of YES Bank, Tata Motors, Tata Steel, Ashok Leyland, Vodafone Idea, Vedanta , SBI, SAIL, Sun TV, Indiabulls Housing Finance, BHEL, ITC, NTPC, Indian Oil Corp and ICICI Bank were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
