Share market update: Metal shares decline; JSPL slumps over 4%

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was up 30.65 points at 10,832.80 while the BSE Sensex was up 139.53 points at 36,120.46.

NEW DELHI: Most metal shares were trading in the red in the Wednesday's afternoon trading session.

Shares of Jindal Steel & Power (down 4.15 per cent), NMDC (down 4.11 per cent), Steel Authority of India (SAIL) (down 3.31 per cent ) and Tata Steel (down 2.64 per cent) were the top losers in the index.

JSW Steel (down 2.01 per cent), APL Apollo Tubes (down 1.96 per cent) and Welspun Corp (down 1.40 per cent) too were trading with losses.


The Nifty Metal index was trading 1.36 per cent down at 2969.35 around 12:11 pm.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 25 were trading in the green, while 25 were in the red.

Shares of YES Bank, Ashok Leyland, ICICI Bank, Infosys, Axis Bank, SBI, Tata Motors, Tata Steel, NMDC, SAIL, Bank of Baroda, Sun Pharma, Vedanta, Hindalco Industries and Indian Oil Corp were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
