Share market update: Metal shares decline; JSPL slips nearly 6%

NEW DELHI: Metal shares declined with the Nifty metal index trading lower in Monday's morning session.

Shares of Jindal Steel & Power (down 5.79 per cent), JSW Steel (down 3.20 per cent), Steel Authority of India (SAIL) (down 3.07 per cent) and Jindal Stainless (Hisar) (down 3.01 per cent) were the worst performers in the index.

APL Apollo Tubes (down 2.35 per cent), Tata Steel (down 2.02 per cent), Welspun Corp (down 1.90 per cent ) and Vedanta (down 1.85 per cent) too were trading lower.


The Nifty Metal index was trading 1.87 per cent down at 2804 around 11:51 am.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was down 110 points at 10,670.55 while the BSE Sensex was down 334.34 points at 35,691.20.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 10 were trading in the green, while 40 were in the red.

Shares of Zee Entertainment, YES Bank, ICICI Bank, SBI, Ashok Leyland, Adani Ports SEZ, Bank of Baroda, DLF, Larsen & Toubro, L&T Finance Holding, Wipro, Tata Motors, Axis Bank and SAIL were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
