Share market update: Metal shares decline; JSPL slips nearly 3%

NEW DELHI: Metal shares declined with the Nifty Metal index trading lower in Monday's trading session.

Shares of Jindal Steel & Power (down 2.92 per cent), Steel Authority of India (SAIL) (down 2.78 per cent), National Aluminium Company (down 2.37 per cent ) and JSW Steel (down 1.97 per cent) were trading with losses.

Jindal Stainless (Hisar) (down 1.74 per cent), Vedanta (down 1.42 per cent), Hindustan Copper (down 1.42 per cent) and Tata Steel (down 0.97 per cent) too were trading in the red.


Nifty Metal index was trading 1.05 per cent down at 2939.95 around 11:38 am.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was down 77.30 points at 10,717.65 while the BSE Sensex was down 242.80 points at 35,767.04.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 9 were trading in the green, while 41 were in the red.

Shares of YES Bank, Infosys, ICICI Bank, Tata Motors, SAIL, Indian Oil Corp, Ashok Leyland, Vedanta , Bharti Infratel, L&T Fin Holding, Bank of Baroda, SBI, Tata Steel and Hindalco Industries were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
