Share market update: Media shares slip; ZEEL falls nearly 4%

NEW DELHI: Media shares were trading with losses in Monday's afternoon session.

Shares of Zee Entertainment Enterprises (down 3.89 per cent), Zee Media Corporation (down 2.76 per cent), Network 18 Media & Investments (down 1.24 per cent) and Jagran Prakashan (down 0.94 per cent) were the worst performers in the index.

Dish TV India (down 0.84 per cent), Hathway Cable & Datacom (down 0.51 per cent), TV18 Broadcast (down 0.48 per cent) and Den Networks (down 0.39 per cent) too were trading lower.


The Nifty Media index was trading 1.49 per cent down at 2313.95 around 02:04 pm.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was down 114.85 points at 11,597.40 while the BSE Sensex was down 357.39 points at 38,605.87.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 12 were trading in the green, while 38 were in the red.

Shares of Vodafone Idea, YES Bank, Tata Motors, ONGC, SAIL, ICICI Bank, Bharti Airtel, Motherson Sumi, Ashok Leyland, Tata Steel, Bank of Baroda, BPCL, SBI, Hindalco Inds. and Infosys were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
