Share market update: FMCG stocks plunge up to 5%; Jubilant Foodworks top loser

Jubilant Foodworks (down 5.60 per cent), Godrej Consumer Products (down 5.14 per cent), Emami (down 4.71 per cent), United Breweries (down 4.09 per cent), Tata Global Beverages (down 4.06 per cent) and Marico (down 4.06 per cent) were the top losers in the FMCG index.
Godrej Industries (down 3.74 per cent), United Spirits (down 3.34 per cent), Dabur India (down 3.29 per cent), Britannia Industries (down 2.40 per cent), GlaxoSmithKline Consumer Healthcare (down 2.38 per cent), Colgate-Palmolive (India) (down 2.26 per cent) and Hindustan Unilever (down 2.23 per cent), too, suffered significant losses.
ITC (down 1.36 per cent) and Procter & Gamble Hygiene & Healthcare (down 0.95 per cent) were in the red.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was down 237 points at 10,621, while the BSE Sensex was 735 points down at 35,240.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 8 were trading in the green, while 42 were in the red.
YES Bank, Bharti Infratel, Larsen & Toubro, Vedanta and Tata Steel were among the gainers in the Nifty index.
Eicher Motors, Hero MotoCorp, Reliance Industries, Tech Mahindra and Bajaj Finance were among the top losers in the Nifty pack of stocks.
