Share market update: Energy stocks gain; HPCL up 2%

NEW DELHI: Energy stocks were trading on a positive note on Wednesday's morning session.

Shares of HPCL (up 2.05 per cent), Oil & Natural Gas Corporation (up 1.58 per cent), GAIL (India) (up 1.29 per cent), Reliance Industries (up 0.9 per cent) and Bharat Petroleum Corporation (up 0.86 per cent) were among the top gainers.

While Power Grid Corporation of India (down 0.98 per cent) and Tata Power Company (down 0.5 per cent) were the top losers in the index.


The Nifty Energy index was trading 0.66 per cent up at 15509.75 around 10:11AM.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was up 118.60 points at 11213.85, while the BSE Sensex was up 413.7 points at 38101.61.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 43 were trading in the green, while 7 were in the red.

Shares of YES Bank, Vodafone Idea, SBI, Tata Motors and Federal Bank were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
