Share market update: Capital goods index up; BEL zooms nearly 8%

NEW DELHI: The BSE Capital Goods index was trading 1.07 per cent up at 17,510 around 1 pm on Friday with a majority of components trading with gains.

Bharat Electronics (BEL) (up 7.68 per cent) was leading among the gainers in the index, followed by Dilip Buildcon (up 5 per cent), CG Power and Industrial Solutions (up 3.27 per cent) and BHEL (up 2.50 per cent).

BEML (up 2.32 per cent), Carborundum Universal (up 2.19 per cent), Schaeffler India (up 2.11 per cent), V-Guard Industries (up 2.01 per cent), Suzlon Energy (up 1.63 per cent), GE T&D India (up 1.30 per cent) and Thermax (up 1 per cent) were witnessing decent traction in their shares.


Larsen & Toubro (up 0.84 per cent), Havells India (up 0.84 per cent), Elgi Equipments (up 0.62 per cent), Sadbhav Engineering (up 0.60 per cent) and SKF India (up 0.50 per cent) too found themselves among the gainers.

On the other hand, NBCC (India) (down 0.80 per cent), Finolex Cables (down 0.43 per cent), AIA Engineering (down 0.36 per cent), HEG (down 0.32 per cent) and Graphite India (down 0.25 per cent) were down in the index.

Equity markets were up on gains in oil, auto and bank stocks. Global cues were mostly positive even as US tariff on Chinese imports took effect.

Benchmark BSE Sensex was up 121 points at 35,695, while the NSE Nifty50 index was up 37 points at 10,787.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 28 were trading in the green, while 22 were in the red.

In the Sensex index, 18 stocks were advancing, while 13 were declining.

Hero MotoCorp, Tata Motors and Bajaj Auto were leading the pack of Sensex gainers.
