Share market update: BSE Utilities index up; PTC India jumps 7%

NEW DELHI: The BSE Utilities index was trading in the green in Monday's afternoon session.

Shares of PTC India (up 6.77 per cent), Jaiprakash Power Ventures (up 4.49 per cent), BF Utilities (up 4.31 per cent), Adani Transmissions (up 1.97 per cent), NLC India (up 1.66 per cent), Nava Bharat Ventures (up 1.09 per cent), Adani Power (up 1.06 per cent), GAIL (India) (up 1.04 per cent) and Power Grid Corporation of India (up 0.88 per cent) were among the top gainers.

While RTN Power (down 5.0 per cent), Reliance Power (down 4.83 per cent), Reliance Infrastructure (down 4.82 per cent), RTN Infra (down 4.72 per cent), Orient Green Power Company (down 3.67 per cent), VA Tech Wabag (down 1.25 per cent) and GVK Power & Infrastructure (down 0.49 per cent) were the top losers in the index.


The S&P BSE Utilities index was trading 0.78 per cent up at 1843.84 around 12:39 pm.

Benchmark NSE Nifty-50 index was up 69.15 points at 12325.95, while the BSE Sensex was up 252.86 points at 41852.58.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 36 were trading in the green, while 14 were in the red.

Shares of Vodafone Idea, YES Bank, PowerGrid Corp, Adani Power, SAIL, Infosys, NCC, Tata Motors, Indiabulls RE and BHEL were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
