Share market update: BSE Utilities index down; Reliance Power loses 5%

NEW DELHI: The BSE Utilities index was trading with loses in Wednesday's afternoon session.

Shares of Reliance Infrastructure (down 5.0 per cent), Reliance Power (down 4.81 per cent), Jaiprakash Power Ventures (down 4.79 per cent), RTN Infra (down 4.66 per cent) and RTN Power (down 4.64 per cent) were the top losers in the index.

While GMR Infrastructure (up 4.29 per cent), KSK Energy Ventures (up 3.64 per cent), Gujarat State Petronet (up 1.54 per cent), VA Tech Wabag (up 1.53 per cent) and Indian Energy (up 1.06 per cent) were among the top gainers.


The S&P BSE Utilities index was trading 0.76 per cent down at 1807.0 around 01:02 pm.

Benchmark NSE Nifty-50 index was down 47.85 points at 12005.1, while the BSE Sensex was 110.68 points at 40758.79.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 15 were trading in the green, while 35 were in the red.

Shares of Vodafone Idea, Fortis Health, YES Bank, HDFC Bank and AU Small Finance Bank Ltd. were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
