Share market update: BSE utilities index climbs; Indian Energy surges 12%

The S&P BSE Utilities index was trading 1.13 per cent up at 1844.67.

NEW DELHI: The BSE Utilities index was trading on a positive note in Friday's afternoon session.

Shares of Indian Energy (up 11.9 per cent), Jaiprakash Power Ventures (up 4.68 per cent), RTN Infra (up 4.08 per cent), PTC India (up 3.35 per cent), GAIL (India) (up 2.79 per cent), Tata Power Company (up 2.68 per cent), NTPC (up 1.93 per cent), Adani Power (up 1.64 per cent), Torrent Power (up 1.61 per cent) and Alstom T&D India (up 1.25 per cent) were among the top gainers.

While Reliance Infrastructure (down 4.96 per cent), Reliance Power (down 4.95 per cent), RTN Power (down 4.76 per cent), KSK Energy Ventures (down 3.45 per cent), Mahanagar Gas (down 2.08 per cent), GMR Infrastructure (down 0.83 per cent), VA Tech Wabag (down 0.23 per cent), Adani Transmissions (down 0.22 per cent) and Power Grid Corporation of India (down 0.13 per cent) were the top losers in the index.


The S&P BSE Utilities index was trading 1.13 per cent up at 1844.67 around 12:47 pm.

Benchmark NSE Nifty-50 index was up 90.40 points at 12306.3, while the BSE Sensex was up 305.17 points at 41757.52.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 41 were trading in the green, while 9 were in the red.

Shares of Vodafone Idea, YES Bank, Bharti Infratel, SAIL, NCC, Hindalco Inds., Tata Motors, Rain Industries , SBI and GMR Infra were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
