NEW DELHI: The S&P BSE Telecom index was trading lower with most of its components in the red in Tuesday's afternoon session.

Shares of Reliance Communications (down 24.37 per cent), Tata Teleservices (Maharashtra) (down 10.12 per cent), GTL (down 4.91 per cent ) and GTL Infrastructure (down 4.12 per cent) were the worst performers in the index.

ITI (down 4.08 per cent), Mahanagar Telephone Nigam (down 3.98 per cent) and Tejas Networks (down 3.53 per cent) too were trading with losses.


The S&P BSE Telecom index was trading 1.86 per cent down at 946.46 around 02:01 pm.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was up 6.15 points at 10,918.40 while the BSE Sensex was up 21 points at 36,603.74.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 24 were trading in the green, while 26 were in the red.

Shares of Reliance Communications, GMR Infra, Reliance Power, Suzlon Energy, JP Associates, DHFL, PNB, Reliance Capital, BHEL, YES Bank, Adani Power, IDBI Bank, KEC International, Dish TV India, CG Power, Vodafone Idea and Infibeam Avenues were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
