Share market update: BSE Smallcap index gains; IOB surges 8%

NEW DELHI: The BSE Smallcap index advanced in Friday's afternoon session.

Shares of Genesys International Corporation (up 17.74 per cent), Rane (Madras) (up 14.4 per cent), Rane Brake Lining (up 13.06 per cent), Zuari Global (up 10.76 per cent), PG Electroplast (up 10.71 per cent), Bhartiya International (up 9.97 per cent), Selan Exploration Technology (up 9.71 per cent), Dalmia Bharat Sugar & Industries (up 9.27 per cent) and Indian Overseas Bank (up 7.9 per cent) were among the top gainers.

While Sterling Tools (down 6.73 per cent), Transformers and Rectifiers (India) (down 6.48 per cent), Seya Industries (down 4.98 per cent), Mercator (down 4.94 per cent), Mohota Industries (down 4.93 per cent), Jaiprakash Associates (down 4.61 per cent), Reliance Capital (down 4.61 per cent), Jaypee Infratech (down 4.58 per cent) and Uniply Industries (down 4.57 per cent) were the top losers in the index.


The S&P BSE SmallCap index was trading 0.63 per cent up at 13520.2 around 01:13 pm.

Benchmark NSE Nifty 50 index was up 88.35 points at 12214.9, while the BSE Sensex was up 311.61 points at 41475.37.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 36 were trading in the green, while 13 were in the red.

Shares of Vodafone Idea , YES Bank, Indiabulls Housing Finance, Bank of Baroda, Hindalco Industries, PNB, BHEL, SBI, SAIL and JSPL were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
