Share market update: BSE Power index up; GMR Infra climbs 7%

NEW DELHI: The S&P BSE Power index was up with most of its components trading higher in Tuesday's afternoon session.

Shares of GMR Infrastructure (up 7.31 per cent), Suzlon Energy (up 5.43 per cent), Reliance Infrastructure (up 3.39 per cent) and Bharat Heavy Electricals (up 2.96 per cent) were trading higher.

NHPC (up 1.64 per cent), NTPC (up 1.55 per cent), Adani Power (up 0.95 per cent) and JSW Energy (up 0.86 per cent) too were trading with gains.


The S&P BSE Power index was trading 0.94 per cent up at 2028.93 around 11:50 am.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was up 9.50 points at 11,363.75 while the BSE Sensex was up 27.89 points at 37,836.80.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 31 were trading in the green, while 19 were in the red.

Shares of Suzlon Energy, Jet Airways, Reliance Power, GMR Infra, JP Associates, BHEL, DLF, Sun Pharma, PNB, REC, Reliance Capital, Ashok Leyland, IDBI Bank, Reliance Communications, PFC and NCC were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
