Share market update: BSE Power index up 1%; GMR Infra jumps over 4%

NEW DELHI: The S&P BSE Power index was trading 1.10 per cent up at 2004.31 on Wednesday with most of its components trading in the green.

Shares of GMR Infrastructure (up 4.47 per cent), Siemens (up 4.36 per cent), CG Power and Industrial Solutions (up 2.60 per cent) and Torrent Power (up 2.05 per cent) were the top performers in the index.

Tata Power Company (up 1.33 per cent), Thermax (up 1.12 per cent), Suzlon Energy (up 1.12 per cent) and CESC (up 1.10 per cent) too were trading in the green.


Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was up 59.05 points at 10,967.75 while the BSE Sensex was up 157.09 points at 36,504.17.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 38 were trading in the green, while 12 were in the red.

Shares of Reliance Communications, JP Associates, Spicejet, Vakrangee, IDFC Bank, YES Bank, NBCC, SBI, PNB, Bank of Baroda, Suzlon Energy, PC Jeweller, GMR Infra, Bank of India, HFCL, Dewan Housing and L&T Fin Holding were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
