Share market update: BSE Power index trades in the green; Torrent Power up 2%

NEW DELHI: The S&P BSE Power index was trading 0.58 per cent up at 1,952.02 around 02:36 pm on Tuesday with its components trading on a mixed note.

Shares of Torrent Power (up 2.31 per cent), JSW Energy (up 2 per cent), NTPC (up 1.83 per cent) and Tata Power Company (up 1.82 per cent) were trading in the green.

GMR Infrastructure (down 1.85 per cent), Suzlon Energy (down 1.16 per cent), Adani Transmission (down 0.99 per cent) and Power Grid Corporation of India (down 0.78 per cent) were among the top losers in the index.


Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was up 88.80 points at 10,571 while BSE Sensex was up 275.52 points at 35,088.51 at that time.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 40 were trading in the green, while 10 were in the red.

Shares of Reliance Communications, JP Associates, Infibeam Avenues, Adani Power, Bank of India, Suzlon Energy, Allahabad Bank, Jet Airways, PC Jeweller, NCC, Godrej Consumer, Dewan Housing, Hindalco Industries, YES Bank, Tata Motors and GMR Infra were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
