Share market update: BSE Power index down; NTPC falls nearly 4%

NEW DELHI: The S&P BSE Power index was down with most of its components trading lower in Wednesday's afternoon session.

Shares of NTPC (down 3.81 per cent), Adani Power (down 2.80 per cent), GMR Infrastructure (down 1.72 per cent) and NHPC (down 1.57 per cent) were the worst performers in the index.

CESC (down 1.48 per cent), JSW Energy (down 1.25 per cent), CG Power and Industrial Solutions (down 1.18 per cent)and Suzlon Energy (down 1.00 per cent) too were trading with losses.


The S&P BSE Power index was trading 1.20 per cent down at 1990.68 around 02:03 pm.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was down 2.75 points at 11,529.65 while the BSE Sensex was up 57.81 points at 38,421.28.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 19 were trading in the green, while 31 were in the red.

Shares of Reliance Communications, Reliance Power, Suzlon Energy, PNB, JP Associates, BHEL, YES Bank, IDBI Bank, SAIL, Aditya Birla Capital, CG Power, Ashok Leyland, Reliance Capital, South Indian Bank and DHFL were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
