Share market update: BSE Capital Goods index up; BHEL jumps 10%

NEW DELHI: The S&P BSE Capital Goods index was up in Wednesday's afternoon session.

Shares of Bharat Heavy Electricals (up 9.77 per cent) , NBCC (India) (up 3.51 per cent) , Carborundum Universal (up 2.42 per cent) and Lakshmi Machine Works (up 1.87 per cent) were the top performers in the index.

Finolex Cables (up 1.82 per cent) , V-Guard Industries (up 1.72 per cent) , Thermax (up 1.61 per cent) and Larsen & Toubro (up 1.56 per cent) too were trading in the green.


The S&P BSE Capital Goods index was trading 1.34 per cent up at 18,892.61 around 11:51 am.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was up 62.75 points at 11,849.60 while the BSE Sensex was up 239.85 points at 40,071.69.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 27 were trading in the green, while 23 were in the red.

Shares of HDFC Life Insurance Company, Vodafone Idea, YES Bank, BHEL, Tata Motors, Indian Oil Corp, NCC, NBCC and SAIL were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
