Share market update: Bank shares advance; PNB jumps 3%

NEW DELHI: Bank shares were trading in the green with the Nifty Bank index up in Wednesday's afternoon trading session.
Shares of Punjab National Bank (up 3.05 per cent), IndusInd Bank (up 2.06 per cent) and ICICI Bank (up 1.21 per cent) were the top performers in the index.
State Bank of India (up 1.01 per cent), YES Bank (up 0.86 per cent) and Axis Bank (up 0.51 per cent) too were trading with gains.
The Nifty Bank index was trading 0.46 per cent up at 27,526.35 around 12:09 pm.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was up 25.10 points at 10,911.90 while the BSE Sensex was up 85.55 points at 36,403.88.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 25 were trading in the green, while 25 were in the red.
Shares of YES Bank, Zee Ent., ICICI Bank, Vedanta, Tata Motors, SBI, Ashok Leyland, Wipro, Bank of Baroda, SAIL and Infosys were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
