Share market update: Auto shares trade mixed; Tata Motors up 2%

NEW DELHI: Auto shares were trading mixed with the Nifty Auto index trading 0.02 per cent down at 8,818.9 around 11:48 am on Thursday.

Shares of Tata Motors (up 2.15 per cent), Tata Motors (DVR) (up 1.74 per cent), Bosch (up 1.27 per cent) and Maruti Suzuki India (up 1.06 per cent) were the top gainers in the index.

Maruti Suzuki India reported a marginal increase in sales at 1,46,766 units in October while Ashok Leyland’s sales rose 17 per cent to 15,149 units last month. Also, the tractor maker Escorts sold 13,140 units last month.


Exide Industries (down 2.74 per cent) , Motherson Sumi Systems (down 2.36 per cent), Ashok Leyland (down 1.83 per cent) and Mahindra & Mahindra (down 1.17 per cent) were among the worst performers.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was down 36.55 points at 10350.05 while BSE Sensex was down 111.11 points at 34,330.94 at that time.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 24 were trading in the green, while 26 were in the red.

Shares of YES Bank, Tata Motors, SBI, Ashok Leyland, Bank of Baroda, Vedanta, BHEL, Indian Oil Corp, BEL, ICICI Bank, Axis Bank, Larsen & Toubro, L&T Fin Holding, RIL and ITC were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
