Share market update: Auto shares in the red; Tata Motors down over 1%

NEW DELHI: Auto shares were trading in the red in Thursday's morning trading session.

Shares of Tata Motors (down 1.69 per cent), TVS Motor Company (down 1.32 per cent), Tata Motors (DVR) (down 1.26 per cent ) and Motherson Sumi Systems (down 1.24 per cent) were the top losers in the index.

Mahindra & Mahindra (down 0.93 per cent), Bharat Forge (down 0.75 per cent) and Amara Raja Batteries (down 0.57 per cent) too were trading lower.


The Nifty Auto index was trading 0.30 per cent down at 8586.70 around 10:02 am.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was down 3.70 points at 10,827.80 while the BSE Sensex was down 4.75 points at 36,103.72.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 21 were trading in the green, while 28 were in the red.

Shares of ITC, YES Bank, Vodafone Idea, Sun Pharma, InterGlobe Aviation, Bharti Infratel, Tata Motors, Bank of Baroda, United Spirits, SBI, RIL, DLF, BHEL, Infosys, Ashok Leyland and SAIL were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
