Sensex jumps 186 pts, Nifty tops 10,900; bank stocks rally
A sharp rally in banking and financial stocks helped benchmark indices snap out of intraday losses and end the first of the New Year on a firm footing on Tuesday. Sensex closed 186 points or 0.52 per cent higher at 36,255. Its NSE counterpart Nifty settled above the 10,900-mark at 10,910, up 48 points or 0.44 per cent.
