Sensex gains over 50 pts, Nifty above 10,450; IVRCL rallies 19%, RCom 7%

NEW DELHI: Benchmark indices were trading marginally higher in Thursday's trade amid mixed cues from other Asian markets. The gains on indices were led by index heavyweights such as the HDFC duo, Reliance Industries and Larsen & Toubro. The rise though was capped by selling in other index constituents such as Infosys, M&M and IndusInd Bank.

At 9.24 am, the 30-share Sensex was trading 52 points, or 0.15 per cent, higher at 33,829.40. Nifty50 rose 20.60 points, or 0.20 per cent, to 10,64.80.

"We advised not to trade aggressively in the index; but the way some of the individual stocks gave a spellbinding move was very much on our expected lines. Traders are advised to keep a close track of the trading range 10,490-10,372,” Sameet Chavan of Angel Broking said.


Shares of Reliance Communications shot up over 7 per cent amid reports that Mukesh Ambani-led Reliance Jio Infocomm is in race to buy assets of the struggling telecom operator.

IVRCL soared 19 per cent as the infrastructure company entered a pact with Singapore-based Cube Highways and Infrastructure to sell its entire stake in two subsidiaries for Rs 726.18 crore.

Lokesh Machines rose over 1 per ceent even as ace investor Ashish Kacholia on Wednesday sold 1.5 lakh shares or 0.9 per cent stake in the company at Rs 73.8 per share.

Among Sensex stocks, Hero MotoCrop, Sun Pharma, L&T and HDFC gained 1.59 per cent, 1.43 per cent, 1.03 per cent and 0.77 per cent, respectively.

M&M, IndusInd Bank, Infosys and Axis Bank fell up to 2.33 per cent.
