Sensex ends 297 points down, Nifty above 8,300; Infosys cracks 6% post Q4
The S&P BSE Sensex ended the day at 27,437.94; down 297.08 points. The broader 50-share Nifty closed the session at 8,305.25; down 93.05 points.

The sentiment was dampened on Dalal Street as the Minister of State for Finance Jayant Sinha informed the Lok Sabha that the Income Tax department has sent notices in 68 cases to Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) for payment of dues totalling Rs 608.83 crore towards Minimum Alternate Tax (MAT).
"The applicability of MAT provisions is a legal issue and wherever the cases require application of MAT provisions, the same is being done," he said in a written reply to the Lok Sabha.
Infosys was in the limelight; it ended the day Rs 1,992.00; down 6.15%, on the BSE. The company announced Q4 consolidated PAT at Rs 3,097 crore as against Rs 3,250 crore QoQ. The stock fell 6.62% intraday.
Another stock in focus was DLF, which cracked nearly 5% soon after ET Now reported that the Supreme Court has refused to stay SAT order in DLF IPO disclosure breach case; and has instead sent notice to DLF on the plea of the market watchdog.
The stock ended the day at Rs 131.10, down 3.92%, on the BSE.
