Securitisation market records 50% growth in Q1

Indian securitisation market grew by over 50 per cent to Rs 50,000 crore in the first quarter of fiscal 2019-20 as against Rs 32,000 crore in the corresponding quarter last year as the NBFC sector went through a period of major liquidity tightness, as per an ICRA report. With the persisting liquidity constraints for NBFCs with longer asset maturity tenures such as auto and home financiers, the rating agency expects an all-time high of Rs 2 lakh crore worth of loans to be securitised in the current fiscal. The overall securitisation volume in FY19 was at Rs 1.99 lakh crore.
