SBI General Insurance posted strong Q1 FY27 growth, led by health, engineering and personal accident segments, while maintaining capital strength and profitability.
The company reported GDPI of Rs 15,904 crore for FY26, up 14.5% year on year.
The comprehensive income rose 17.4% to Rs 573 crore, while profit after tax stood at Rs 426 crore, under the newly adopted Ind AS reporting framework, according to the company’s statement on August 28,
Growth during the quarter was broad-based across the company's retail and commercial insurance portfolio. The Health segment grew 49.9%, Personal Accident 26.3%, Engineering insurance 95.4%, and Marine Cargo 16.8%.
SBI General reported a solvency ratio of 2.0 times and a Combined Operating Ratio of 96.18% for the quarter. The company said the figures reflect continued business expansion alongside capital strength and financial discipline.
The quarter also marked a reporting milestone. "We're the first adopters of the Ind AS framework among general insurance companies, marking another important milestone in our financial reporting journey, and will further enhance transparency and comparability for our stakeholders," said Jitendra Attra, CFO, SBI General Insurance.
"We have started FY27 on a strong note with sustained growth across all key parameters," said Naveen Chandra Jha, MD and CEO, SBI General Insurance. He added that the company's performance reflected its focus on balanced growth and profitability, backed by customer trust and agile execution.
Attra added further that the company's 10.9% GDPI growth reflected sustained momentum across key business segments, and that it would remain focused on maintaining financial discipline as it scales.
SBI General said it will continue to focus on disciplined expansion, stronger underwriting, operational efficiency, technology, and distribution. The company reported GDPI of Rs 15,904 crore for FY26, up 14.5% year on year.
The insurer has 182 branches, more than 9,900 employees, and a multi-channel distribution network that includes access to over 23,000 SBI branches.
