Samvat 2070: Who gained, who lost at the bourses
Samvat 2070 has been a good year for the Indian stock market with its benchmark indices outperforming almost all the major global indices in both rupee and dollar terms. Both the Sensex and Nifty, which hit new lifetime highs of 27,354.99 and 8,180.20, respectively, during the year, have had their best performance since Samvat 2065.

Sensex has gained 26 per cent since November 3 last year, the beginning of Samvat 2070, fuelled by FIIs amid the election euphoria. FIIs have invested about Rs 1.1 lakh crore in Indian stocks, while domestic institutions pumped in just Rs 12,000 crore.

Though FIIs had invested Rs 1.23 lakh crore in Samvat 2069, Sensex had risen just 14 per cent. The ET Auto-ancillaries, ET Chemicals, ET Logistics, and ET Hospitality indices gained between 70 per cent and 90 per cent during Samvat 2070.
