RIL AGM will be a landmark event for corporate India and telecom sector

AGM of Reliance Industries Ltd (RIL) is always an eagerly-awaited annual event for the business community and industry watchers in India. While no concrete corporate action gets announced at the AGM, the broad roadmap laid down by the Chairman in his speech provides a meaningful insight into the way forward for the largest private sector company in India.

AGM, which is scheduled to be held on Friday, is going to be a landmark event for corporate India in general and Telcom industry in particular. We will await the Chairman's announcement regarding the launch of Reliance Jio.

This launch is expected to have major implication for not only the existing Telcom players in India but also the future Telcom landscape and consumers in general.

Apart from the above critical and expected announcement, we will also look forward to a clear direction from the Chairman regarding the way forward for the offshore energy business of the company.

The future of Shale blocks jointly owned by Reliance is a matter of great interest to determine the strategy of the company in the area of overseas expansion.

Considering the Group's interest in the overall Infrastructure sector and the Central Government's current emphasis on Infrastructure strengthening, we will carefully watch the Chairman's comments regarding the Company's intentions in this space, if any.

Also, we would like to see whether there are any special efforts by Reliance to participate in the Central Government's 'Make in India' initiative.
