Small but Mighty
The steady rise in retail investor holdings over the last four quarters indicates growing trust and enthusiasm among individual investors. This ongoing participation suggests that these companies are attracting attention beyond just institutional players.
ETMarkets’ analysis revealed that around 130 small-cap stocks saw retail investors (holdings up to Rs 2 lakh), consistently increase their stakes throughout FY25. However, despite this steady accumulation, most of these stocks delivered negative returns over the past year. Notably, there were 10 exceptions-stocks that posted price gains between 30% and 100% within a year-highlighting the potential impact of persistent retail investment even in a challenging market environment.
