Mukesh Ambani-led Jio has scrapped its 1 GB/day pack, which was priced at Rs 249 for 28 days, making the 1.5 GB/day plan the new base option for users. The change has already been reflected on Jio’s official website, which now lists only 1.5 GB/day and higher data packs, with no lower-data plan available.
According to data from the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI), Jio added 1.9 million net wireless subscribers in June, maintaining its lead in the market. Airtel also gained traction with 763,482 net additions, while Vodafone Idea (Vi) lost 217,816 users and BSNL’s subscriber base declined by 305,766 during the same period. Overall, the country’s total wireless subscriber base increased by 2 million in June, reaching 1.163 billion.
In another update, the company’s fast-moving consumer goods arm, Reliance Consumer Products Ltd (RCPL) also announced the acquisition of a majority stake in Naturedge Beverages.
Through this joint venture with Naturedge, RCPL aims to broaden its beverage portfolio by offering a range of herbal and natural drinks. RCPL stated that the step is part of its strategy to strengthen its position as a total beverage company, expanding beyond traditional categories into functional and wellness-driven segments.
The company highlighted that the healthy functional beverage market in India represents a significant opportunity, supported by a strong shift in consumer preference towards healthier lifestyles and natural product choices.
RCPL has been steadily building its beverage portfolio since its inception in 2022. The company has expanded aggressively through acquisitions and product launches, including the takeover of Campa, the introduction of Campa Energy, and the addition of Raskik beverages.
