Rakesh Jhunjhunwala ups stake in NCC

The latest acquisition enables Jhunjhunwala led group to up their stake to 7.98%, making them third largest holders among non-promoter entities.

Rekha Jhunjhunwala, wife of ace stockbroker Rakesh Jhunjhunwala, has, acting in concert with him and three individuals and entities, acquired 7.5 lakh shares, or 0.29% stake, in the Hyderabad-based infrastructure firm NCC Ltd, further consolidating their holding in the company.

The persons and entities acting in concert were already holding 7.69% in NCC, wherein global private equity firms Blackstone and Warhol hold around 9.9% each.

The latest acquisition of shares, bought in the open market, enables the Jhunjhunwala led group to up their stake to 7.98%, making them the third largest holders among the non-promoter entities.

NCC promoters currently own 19.56% in the company, while institutional investors together hold 51.5% and non-institutional investors 28.91%.

On Thursday, the NCC stock gained 0.12% to close at Rs 40.10 on the Bombay Stock Exchange, whose benchmark Sensex rose by 0.14% to close at 16,990 points.
