Mumbai-based investment company Bright Star Investments, which serves as the primary investment vehicle for DMart founder Radhakishan Damani and his family, held 26.3 lakh shares of Sundaram Finance at the end of the first quarter of the ongoing financial year 2027, data on the company’s shareholding pattern showed.
Bright Star’s name was not mentioned in the shareholding pattern filings of Sundaram Finance for the March or December quarters of FY26, which means it either held no stake in the company or less than 1%, requiring no disclosures as per SEBI’s rules. At the end of last year’s September quarter, Damani’s investment firm held 26.3 lakh shares, or a 2.37% stake.
Radhakishan Damani is the founder of DMart and has an estimated net worth of nearly $16 billion, according to data on Forbes. Much of his wealth is driven by his retail business and a roughly Rs 1.8 lakh crore stock market portfolio, as per data on Trendlyne, which shows that DMart parent Avenue Supermarts continued to remain his biggest holding. He also owns stakes in VST Industries, United Breweries, Blue Dart and others.
Sundaram Finance share price
The shares of the non-banking financial company hit a lifetime high of Rs 5,642 apiece in March this year. However, the stock then declined more than 29% in nearly a month to Rs 4,000 apiece in June.The stock has fallen around 1% in a week and 2% in a month to trade at around Rs 4,404.80 apiece on Thursday afternoon. The stock is overall down more than 17% in 2026 so far. In the longer term, it has delivered a negative return of 15% in one year, but jumped 68% in three years and 71% in five years.
