Pyramid Saimira Theatre Ltd has announced its foray into the Malayalam film industry.

MUMBAI: Pyramid Saimira Theatre Ltd has announced its foray into the Malayalam film industry. The company plans to lease theatres in Thiruvanthapuram, Kannur, Tellicherry, Badgara, Payyanuar, Manatvady, Kalpeta, Battery, Alleppy, Punalur, Anchal, Varkala & Karunagpally in Kerala.

The company will initially invest Rs 25 crore. The company's production unit plans to produce over 10 Malayalam films annually. It will buy another 10 films.

The company has received national distribution rights for Pardesi, featuring Mohanlal, which is slated for release on October 12.

Pyramid Saimira will also distribute Ram Gopal Varma ki Aag, featuring Amitabh Bachcan and Mohanlal, slated for release on August 31, across Kerala.

The share of the company, however, was down on the bourses, in line with the broad trend. At 2:17 pm, Pyramid Saimira was down 6.34% at Rs 258.
