One of the top banking jobs in
Asia is up for grabs. After the resignation of Francisco Aristeguieta, CEO of Citigroup Asia Pacific, a fortnight ago, the New York headquarters of the
Wall Street bank has set in motion a process to fill in the slot. There’s a growing buzz in
Citi that
Pramit Jhaveri, former head of Citi India, is among the handful who have been shortlisted for the position. As CEO of Citi India for 9 years, Jhaveri had revived the fortunes of the bank’s local operations – which, however, had to fork out a fine of Rs 3 crore this year due to shortcomings in regulatory compliance. Now, if New York decides on Jhaveri, the Citi veteran would be heading for Hong Kong which is the bank’s regional hub for 18 countries.
