P&G spurts on value buying

Analysts say investors see value in the stock after the government reduced customs duty on diapers and sanitary napkins in the Budget.

Procter and Gamble Hygiene emerged as one of the biggest gainers in the large-cap space. Analysts say investors see value in the stock after the government reduced customs duty on diapers and sanitary napkins in the Budget.

The shares of the women hygiene care products maker jumped 6.3% to close at 1,901 on high volumes on the BSE on Thursday. The company recently cut prices of its products, Whisper and Pampers, in response to the Budgetary proposal.

The price reduction is expected to boost the company's sales and improve margins in those categories of products benefitting from the Budget proposal.
