NEW DELHI: Over a dozen stocks, including Usha Martin, Jay Bharat Marut, Nalwa Sons Invst, Himatsingk Seid, Sunflag Iron, IFGL Refract, Elgi Rubber, Parabolic Drugs, Prakash Inds, Aries Agro, hit their fresh 52-week high levels on NSE on Wednesday even as the broader market surged.

Benchmark NSE Nifty index gained 92.05 points to 8,380 during the session amid brisk buying on the frontline blue chip counters.

However, stocks such as Birla Cotsyn, BS, Gammon Infra, Ruchi Infra, Power Mech Projects, Rasoya Proteins, Raj Rayon touched fresh 52-week lows.

Overall, 42 shares ended the day in green in Nifty50 index, while nine settled the day in the red.

In the Nifty50 index, Hindalco, IndusInd Bank, Coal India, Bank of Baroda, YES Bank and Tata Steel were among the top gainers, while Bajaj Auto, ITC, HCL Tech, ONGC, RIL, Tata Power and Infosys were among the major losers.

The BSE Sensex closed 240.85 points higher at 27,140.
