NEW DELHI: Shares of Optiemus Infracom, a mobile distributor, hit their upper circuit limit of 10 per cent after the company announced that it has become the official partner of BlackBerry for distribution of its handsets in the domestic market.

The stock jumped 10 per cent to hit a high of Rs 67.90 on BSE. “The partner will distribute and promote BlackBerry-branded devices that use BlackBerry's secure Android software and applications,” the company said in a filing to BSE.

Alex Thurber, Senior Vice-President, Global Device Sales at BlackBerry, said his company was continuing to implement a new strategic direction for its mobility solutions business, wherein it will continue to leverage third parties to distribute and market BlackBerry handsets.

The company operates in seven countries with 25 branch offices. The company has 6 affiliate businesses. The company is headquartered in New Delhi and had earlier catered to Nokia, Samsung and Zen, among others.
