Oil and Natural Gas Corporation has begun selling natural gas from the Chinnewala Tibba field.
Shares of Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) are set to be in focus on Tuesday after the state-owned explorer commenced sales of natural gas from the Chinnewala Tibba field, marking the monetisation of the Discovered Small Field (DSF-II) block in Rajasthan’s Kutch Onland Exploratory Asset (RKOEA).

ONGC said on Monday it has officially started sales of natural gas from the RJ/ONDSF/Chinnewala/2018 block. Located in Western Rajasthan near the Indo-Pak border, the Chinnewala Tibba block spans 73 sq. km and holds promising reserves.

According to the company, sales began on August 25, with supplies of 1.0 lakh standard cubic meters per day (LSCMD) being evacuated to Rajasthan Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Limited (RRVUNL), Ramgarh, through ONGC’s Gamnewala Gas Collection Station (GCS).


Energy security push


In a statement, ONGC said the milestone “reinforces ONGC's commitment to enhancing domestic energy production and strengthening India's energy security under the guidance of the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas (MoP&NG).”

The company added, “This accomplishment was enabled by the close collaboration between ONGC, Directorate General of Hydrocarbons (DGH), GAIL, Oil India Limited (OIL), and RRVUNL, ensuring smooth integration of gas supplies into the regional power grid.”

ONGC officials said the commencement of gas production from Chinnewala Tibba reflects the company’s focus on “efficient resource monetisation and value creation under the DSF framework,” underscoring its role as a partner of the government in achieving national energy goals.

Shares of the company have fallen 26% over the last 12 months, whule the stock is down 0.1% so far in 2025.
