ONGC produces shale gas in West Bengal;stk up

MUMBAI: ONGC has produced first shale gas in the country at Icchapur in Durgapur district of West Bengal. The company said the 2,000-metre deep well at the shale formation encountered gas on January 25. Shale gas is non-conventional natural gas reserves found in non-porous rock and requires fracking technology to extract gas from shale.

The stock was at Rs 1133.25, up 1.75 per cent on the NSE. It touched a high of Rs 1139 and low of Rs 1116.15 in trade so far.
