NEW DELHI: NTPC, India's largest power producer, will borrow Rs 20,000 crore in this financial year to fund its expansion, its director-finance KM Biswal said.

The company will borrow Rs 6,000-7,000 crore through bond issues in international markets and the balance through rupee loans and bonds in India, he said.

Biswal said the company does not have any share buyback plans since it requires a huge amount of cash for power plants under construction.

NTPC has 24,000 mw projects under various stages of development. A few other cash-rich state-run firms have said they are considering share buyback.
