— NSEIndia (@NSEIndia) 1644211532000Last year, on February 24, a technical glitch had forced NSE to shut down its operations for more than four hours.
Since NSE was shut down, traders had no option but to use the platform of rival exchange BSE to close their open positions.
Given the fact that NSE holds over 95 per cent market share in the derivatives segment, most of the traders had deposited their margins with the NSE. While they were able to execute the trades on BSE, they were unable to bring any new margins from NSE to BSE until the glitch was resolved.
In December 2021, NSE and BSE put out comprehensive guidelines for handling technical glitches at members' end in order to prevent disruptions.
Under the new framework, members will have to pay Rs 20,000 per day in case of failure to report the incident to the exchanges within the required timeline, NSE and BSE had said in separate circulars.
