No extension in trading hours: BSE chief clarifies exchange timings to remain unchanged
BSE Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Ashishkumar Chauhan, on Thursday clarified that that stock markets in India will continue to be open from 9.15 am to 3.30 pm. There is no extension of trading hours, ET Now reported.

Earlier there were talks that bourses are planning to extend trading hours till 5.30 pm.

In July, the Metropolitan Stock Exchange of India (MSEI) issued a notice announcing extension of trading hours in the equity segment from 9 am to 5 pm. However, within a day of announcing the extension of trading hours up to 5pm, MSEI withdrew the circular on the same.

Sebi, in October 2009, had permitted the stock exchanges to set the trading hours between 9 am to 5 pm.

The BSE and the NSE had advanced market open timing to 9am in December 2009, from 9.45am earlier.
